THE CLALLAM COUNTY GEM AND MINERAL Society is a group interested in rocks, minerals, fossils, lapidary, jewelry and the earth sciences. We meet at 7 pm, on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, except July and Dec, at The 5th Avenue Retirement Center (2nd floor). Visitors are always welcome. Our monthly meetings discuss club activities, and usually feature short programs or show-and-tells given by guest speakers or members. The monthly "Ore-Bits" newsletter, is sent by mail and via Internet. Each fall, the club holds its annual rock and gem show, traditionally the first Friday, Saturday and Sunday of October, at Carrie Blake Park.

Our Lapidary Shop (81 Hooker Rd, Unit 5) offers an array of saws, grinders, sanders and polishers for use by members who have experience or training with the equipment, for $4 per 3-hour session. There is a Lapidary Basics Class for newcomers. The shop is available Monday mornings (9 to 12 noon), and Wednesday afternoon (noon to 3 pm) and Wed. evening (6 to 9 pm) The club also offers Tuesday evening Wire-Wrap class from 6 to 9 pm (cost of materials plus a $2 donation for building). Thursday Classes are also held in silversmithing at the shop. Casting, copper-based enamel beadmaking, beading, rock-painting, gem-tree making, flintknapping, and other related projects, are scheduled when availability of instructors and members' interests allow.

INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIPS: $20 FOR THE FIRST YEAR (includes one-time cost of name tag). Renewals: $15 per year

FOR A COUPLE: $35 FOR THE FIRST YEAR (includes name tag). Renewals: $25 per year

FAMILY MEMBERSHIPS: $35 - PLUS $5 FOR EACH NEW MEMBER'S NAMETAG. Renewals: $35 per year

JUNIOR MEMBERSHIPS: (under 16 years of age): $15 FOR THE FIRST YEAR (including name tag) Renewals: $10 per year
